The mermaid thought John had something in mind when he started the conversation, but she was mistaken. John is very straightforward, if he had had a plan she'd have known already.
John, as a character, is an anti-pick-up-artist. He enjoys flirting because he finds that fun, if something else comes out of it great, but if not well conversation happened so it's something! He thinks he has his secrets, but they boil down to raw social skills - coming off as fun and friendly, recognising what kinds of persons will welcome him - and a touch of self-awareness.
Yeah, John is about as deep as puddle, but he is still pretty lovable!
He's trying to be! Life's so much more fun when everybody's your friend!
For the record I've totally had fried crickets and they are not awful. Meal worms are supposed to be good. Now when I say not awful and "good" i mean I didn't barf all over the place for days.
Never tried meal worms either, but with how excited beardies get when offered some, I assume they must be delicious!
Love that first panel Dodom.
it's weird but your style has some similarities with my own.
Now I had to check!
I can see what you mean, though you get close perspective better than I! Your last page, with the car - I would have made that all wrong!
