Leof's clothing style is inspired from Great elves, she thinks she manages to look a little like them. Even more provocative, that single bead she wears around her neck.
Early in the story, Jean-Marie taunts a city orc that "he" would be punished for wearing a shirt with a print around the collar, because only certain castes of orcs are allowed to wear any symbols around their neck. Black beads made from a woman's hair dipped in a resin each represent one wife. Wearing more than one actually has wives to make one's clan look bigger would indeed be a serious offense.
Leof and Deore did risk punishment when they started wearing that, but Leof is one to make more or less obvious statements. Like not taking a weapon out when she was given reasons to fear strangers.
Such a cheery travelling party :D
It'll only be awkward for a little bit. Then party in the house! Except they're outside the house. Hmm...
Like the hat-related exchange in the end. Though I do not believe one can ever be too little to watch ones' enemies suffer~!
You have a point.
In fact, the littler they are, the more ruthless they are. If five years olds were judges, they'd sentence about everyone to death.
