That elf had his chest crushed fighting against Liroj. His spine and kidneys are messed up and he's bleeding internally. He's a pretty tough elf, most of us wouldn't be crawling and yelling in this state.
Hard-headed, isn't he?
Your backgrounds are meticulously detailed! Nice pen-work. :)
The time I spend on backgrounds may be bordering on insanity.
At least in a "travelling" scene like that I don't need to make it look consistent. I draw subsequent panels after each others, but as soon as some time passed I can say that the character moved and make it up from scratch. Fixed locations take more time, I keep having to take older pages as references. Sooner or later I'll have to make real reference drawings for common locations!
Ha! I like that he's so tough that he yells at his own injured body to keep up with his stubbornness.
I agree, backgrounds are and have always been extremely well done!
I wish, but I still need to work a lot if I want to get indoor backgrounds right.
Nature ones though, yeah I'm happy with them too!
He is very determined to get himself out of there, but even as tough as he is, those are some pretty bad injuries. That he even has the breath to yell at himself says something about his fortitude. Even still...He isn't going to get far without help!
He ended up with a crappy role in this story.
Sure, he tried to kill the trolls, but he was only trying to feed his people! Now, if he doesn't make it, not only does he die in a painful and undignified way, his suffering and effort are in vain. But if he makes it, the rest of the elves know about the trolls and can attack the protagonists before they have a chance to get settled on this island.
I just LOVE your style. Not sure if I said that before. It's so gritty of full of detail. I must know how the process of drawing those backgrounds takes you!
How it takes? You mean how much?
I'd say about three hours a page...
...and a new pen every ten pages or so.
Sorry! Yes, I meant to say "how long". But wow, those poor pens. Haha. =P
