While we're on the theme of prejudice: this is a world where races that are actually measurably different exist. It makes telling real characterics from imagined ones complicated.
Icarus naturally assumed that John should have stopped Jean-Marie, since a troll is strong enough to hold any human.
John assumed Icarus could catch up on him just as naturally, since he had heard that black humans were faster.
Knowing the first assumption was true makes it more tempting to believe the second one.
Now that's a relatively harmless stereotype, but there is one truly offensive statement on this page: gnomes can't be penguins??? Gee, have some sensitivity please!!!
Wearing a suit doesn't make him a bird.
I built a very faithful Godzilla suit for a convention years ago...over a hundred pounds of cloth, foam rubber, and latex... that didn't mean I could actually lay waist to Tokyo.
There's a line you can't cross, kiddies. ;)
Tell that to the furries!
Is it that you couldn't lay waste to Tokyo... or that you never tried?
I cant decide if this is a prime example of 'Passing the buck', or like in that picture where the fish are getting eaten according to their size, only in this case the bigger fish are just letting the smaller fish they could have eaten, get away.
Have to admit the excuses they are whining about are funny but valid enough.
They're all pointing fingers, but in the end, its the ones who take initiative that win! One point for the penguin, erm, i mean gnome. Yes.
I typed a reply to Draginbeard's comment but Chace said about the same thing before I finished!
Yes indeed, only the gnome aknowledged that catching criminals was not their job nor anything they had any competence in, so he was the only one ready to do something useful.
Bit late commenting, but hooray for beings who think they're penguins!
